British Police Defend 'Underpants' Advice
Thursday, July 13, 2006 now part of stylesheet -->
(07-13) 14:15 PDT LONDON, United Kingdom (AP) --
A British police force on Thursday defended a magazine article advising women intent on getting drunk to make sure they are wearing nice underpants.
Suffolk Police in eastern England said the "tongue-in-cheek" advice in the police-backed magazine Safe was intended to curb binge-drinking by young women.
An article in the debut issue advises women "intent on getting ratted" to ensure they are "wearing nice pants" in case they pass out.
It also tells young women that too much alcohol can leave them looking like "wrinkly old prunes."
The force said the publication — designed as an eye-catching spoof gossip magazine and distributed free through shops, clubs and colleges — offered safety advice to young women.
It is produced by a coalition of police, local government and health organizations.
"That article is a very, very small part of the magazine," said a police spokeswoman, speaking on the force's customary condition of anonymity. "The whole magazine does not revolve around what people should wear when they go out."
The Suzy Lamplugh Trust, a women's safety charity, acknowledged the article appeared odd, but said the police should be applauded for trying to reach young women.
"When you see quotes out of context, it seems very odd. But when you see it in context you get the spoof," spokeswoman Jo Walker said.
"Perhaps it's gone a bit too far, but you've got to give police credit for trying.
"It's definitely getting attention, and I think it will get young girls talking about it."

Eat Green and Die

According to Time, the $2.6 billion prewashed salad industry is at stake, clinging to their very roots for survival. Right now, Americans are emptying out their produce drawers following an E. coli scare that would have Popeye spinning in his grave. What spawned this mass terror? Over a hundred people have eaten contaminated fresh spinach, causing mass intestinal disturbances and one fatality. California is the source of the E. coli, so this should be the perfect opportunity for Governor Arnold to test his mettle against a new kind of bad guy: non-Predator, non-Terminator, and non-Democrat. Will the Kindergarten Cop defeat the bad bug? Well…maybe with the help of the CDC. Until then, I recommend avoiding manure-contaminated spinach and opting for a healthier alternative instead: twinkies. Lard and sugar are thus far impervious to attacks by the coli family…apparently even bacteria have their standards. Ironically enough, most Americans (including me) would probably risk dropping dead at the tender age of 35 to avoid something that is already present in their bodies, peacefully digesting all those partially hydrogenated oils. Then again, if we lived long enough, we’d develop brain cancer from our cell phones.

ITV Strikes Back

Day 2 of classes. ITV is new and different this semester...not exactly better either. The long and the short of it is, all of the colleges switched from the dedicated T1 lines to plain internet at 256K. On top of that, Colby is generally inaccessible because all of their addresses got screwed up I guess. And I broke the VCR today. Yep. If I had a screwdriver, I'd take it apart and try to fix it. So it's good that I don't have a screwdriver. But enough of work. Hays is sunny and a beautiful 82 degrees out. Perfect weather for frisbee golf, laying in a shady hammock, or Oversized Outdoor Ping Pong (also known as tennis) if you're into that sort of thing. So right now there's this girl sitting in Tomanek crying on the phone (she's been doing this for at least an hour now) about various random topics like athletic shorts...I don't really get it but she's getting annoying. For the love of Alltel, get some Prozac! And in other news, there is a tree in San Antonio that is self-watering.

In the spirit of YouTube

Ketelbey

Here's a video I really like of a band I fell in love with recently. The song starts off with the singer talking about how he saw a cat, but at closer look it turned out to be a piece of bread, but only one slice, only one slice.

Great YouTube video Moskau. Remember The Leafman Group? Think along those lines, only no leaves, just Germans dressed up all Russian like.

And for some reason, here is a longer video of it, in some sort of language I can't understand (Japanese, perhaps?). Also good.

Meet Harvey

This is Harvey. I think Harvey is actually a female--I found this out after I named her. She is a Pennsylvania wood cockroach that briefly resided in our basement. Kayla set out "cockroach food" for Harvey, and last night we found her quivering in the middle of the living room floor. I gave Harvey a sky burial on our front lawn this morning. We can only hope that Harvey did not leave any little ones behind. There's a good chance; Harvey is an outdoor cockroach (they don't generally breed indoors) and I think she just wandered into our house while looking for rotting timber. Which, oddly enough, comprises our house....

Hopefully, this ends the saga of the cockroach infestation. Coming soon: The lint monster that lives in the laundry room.

Save the Internet : Fighting for Internet Freedom

Save the Internet : Fighting for Internet Freedom

we must act dont let the the telephone/internet providers win i know sometimes we say how we dont want government involment in thing well this time we do they want to take away our freedom to suf the web. the big ISPs want to control what sites are best for us

"Congress is pushing a law that would abandon the Internet's First Amendment -- a principle called Network Neutrality that prevents companies like AT&T, Verizon and Comcast from deciding which Web sites work best for you -- based on what site pays them the most. If the public doesn't speak up now, our elected officials will cave to a multi-million dollar lobbying campaign." - savetheinternet.com

The Song Tapper

I can't believe that the Song Tapper was able to guess the songs I was thinking of, just from me tapping the keyboard. It was able to successfully guess Barbara Ann, Darth Vader's theme (its real name is the Emperor's March, or Waltz, or something maybe), and the Super Mario theme. Too bad it requires at least 10 taps, ruling Shave and a Hair Cut out.

Windows XP Theme - Royale (a.k.a. The Glass Mod)

Tired of that "Fisher Price" look of Luna, the default theme for Windows XP? Thanks to the folks at Microsoft New Zealand, you too can have that neat Windows Media Player Theme, Royale, but inside a regular Home or Pro version of Windows XP! If that's not to your taste, then Softpedia Themes Section might have something that suits you even better (Hmm, like that Windows Vista Look-and-feel for XP with a somewhat strange title Universal Vista Inspirat Bricko Pack 1.1. I might have to try that out sometime.)

Volleyball Highlight #01

I dipped into the collection of DV tapes I recorded of our college days. Let me set the stage for those of us with bad memories, or weren't there for that exciting night of Sonic Drive-In volleyball action:

This four-year old walks right into the middle of our volleyball game. We didn't want her there obviously, because... well... we're really bad at this and, let's admit, there's a high risk of injury to anyone out there. Rather then flat out telling the little girl that she can't play, we decide to just shove her into a section of the court where (we thought) the ball usually doesn't bounce to.

"Wow. That's some good aim."

Finally...

Another semester (for those of us still in college) is winding down. Papers are turned in, tests are taken, grades are posted, and frantic packing commences in the dorms. I have outdone myself yet again by finding more dirty dishes hidden behind my microwave than I even knew I had. Perhaps dirty dishes have a way of reproducing or cloning themselves....Ditto for dirty laundry.

I'm looking forward to summer though. Classes sure do have a way of cutting into my fun time. Oh wait...I'm taking classes this summer...Oh snap. Well, at the very least, I won't be eating dorm food anymore. Chartwells: eat, choke, and die without me (if I sound particularly irate, it is just because I found a hair in my sausage biscuit this morning). I'm moving on.

So long everybody, and thanks for all the fish...er...blogs.

Microsoft speech recognition

so I just figured out how to use the Microsoft speech recognition in all sorts of applications like fire fox . So I'm using it to write this entire body and I'm not going to correct the mistakes that it makes . As you can see it used the word body instead of log and now it just use the word logs instead of dog and outages to use the word dog. I had a CBack spaceThe spec space backspace backspace backspace . I was trying to correct something but using backspace but that didn't go as what planned. I think I'd train the Microsoft beach recognition software for more it will be a lot of fun. Beach I like the beach two . Everybody should check it out in my opinion because it will just make life so much cooler with all of these audit mistakes that makes. And you can drive a whole bunch of blood in a hurry just by talking. And it just makes me laughAnd

Paul out .

Talk to your computer

So somehow the Mirosoft voice regection just started appearing on the taskbar and I checked it out. You sould to. It is amazing some of the stuff it write after what you say. It is a lot of fun, how it misunderstands somethings.

that is all I got.

oh no schools ending

you whinners. oh my god classes are going to end. whoopie freak'n who gives a crap. They start and end every semester. and you babies whine every semester, grow up, suck it up and get over it. you don't know what hard is yet

Last Tuesday

So I just woke up...I'm at work and I guess I fell asleep (I don't think I drooled too much so that's always good). Anyways, I woke up and decided to check out what's new on YouTube...my new favorite addiction and ultimate procastinating tool. Guess what I found: the real life Simpson's intro. I was amused. But then, that could just be because I'm not yet up to full mental capacity (it takes awhile for me to reboot).

And in other news, it's cheap hamburger night, Sam's birthday is coming up, and we had Physics Club elections today and nobody died.

Peace out

I can not wait

Class are coming to an end and I am so glad. This year seems like it has been so long to me. So many things have changed over the last year. Change is sad somethings, but good others. If things never changed life would get boring that is for sure. It is just amazing what can happen in a year. Who knows what the future holds.

Things I've Learned About YouTube

It's been two days since I've posted the Massacre of a Machine video, one day since I've posted The Mase-inator's Donkey Kong Country 2 Tour de Force, and just recently I've posted Lessons In Life.

In that span of one day, the DKC2 video had triple the view counts to MoaM, AND a comment to boot! From somebody we don't even know! She liked it! Too bad nobody's rated it yet. I guess fifty views isn't anything too big, considering some of the most played videos get over a million, easy. The Pokemon Theme music video was #1? Sad. Too bad it's also somewhat funny.

My brief expedition into YouTube is a roaring success. Obviously, we need to get The Mase-inator back into some video game action, if we are to climb up the ranks any.

It is done

I finshed my senor semair (sp) today. I think it is a great day. Lots of rain. Everyone should listen to a Brithish radio station for fun, it is asome. Rightoues

YouTube: another way to prolong homework completion

so i found this video of lester..... check it out.

crazy guy...he just can't keep his feet on the ground.

:P

Massacre of a Machine: Now on YouTube

I'm behind the times. Apparently this YouTube site is getting hit almost as much as Google.

Anyone can create an account and upload nearly any video file they want (registration required, videos can only be up to 100MB in size and no longer than 10 minutes). It then transcodes that video file, from whatever format that might have been, into a standardized format that can play on almost anyones computer (It's Shockwave Flash video, I believe).

So I uploaded a video. Let me tell you, the process couldn't have been less painless. They even let you either link to the webpage, or let you embed it right into your own site if you want! I'll be posting more videos to this in the future.

It's free, and it doesn't sell advertisements. I don't quite get their angle... yet.

I decided to post a few pics. I'll probably post more once my sister sends me more pics.

Went to the beach and saw this sign, thought it was funny.

I got to ride one of these things on the beach. My sister has an awesome job.

It rained!

It rained early this morning and is cloudy today. I like the break from all the heat. Everything seems so clean and nice after the rain. I also finshed my semiar paper to. A great day it is. If only school was done. Have a happy and wonderfully day.

What's the deal with those links at the bottom of MSN IM chat screens?

As I was IMing to Paul today, I noticed a sentence that seemed a little out of place. It wasn't something Paul or I typed. In fact, it wasn't anywhere near that section of the IM window. It read "I'm pretty sure I could be your life coach." Curious, I clicked.

That's what brings me here today. In continuing with this serendipitous free music series, here is ADitty4You.com, including the songs "I'm Pretty Sure I Could be a Life Coach" and one of my favorites, "Laugh Tracks Make Me Feel Lonely." I haven't listened to them all, but some of the titles alone tended to tickle my funny bone, until the tickling went on for just too long and got annoying and painful... you know who you are, over-ticklers. Don't think it's cute. It's annoying, and very tiring. What part of "*gasp* I can't *gasp* breathe," don't you understand?... Oh, yeah, the ditties. They were good and funny. Listen to them.

The REAL song that never ends (although this one does)

Play The Pi Song (If it doesn't work, try using IE, or just download it direct). Annoying at first, it somehow grew on me the more it went on. And then it stopped, which is annoying (It's one minute, four seconds long). Try to play it once every day at 3:14. Twice at 6:28. It's a smaller part of a bigger video which somehow fits rap and lasers into the mix. You'll feel geekier for having seen it, and not in the good way.

I'm not sure on this next song (it's a shockwave flash file). I've heard it before, and I may have even posted it to this blog, or someone else did. In any case, here it is for the first time or again: Mathematical Pi.

And a wikipedia entry on Pi Day. Which this blog didn't celebrate. I forgot. In fact, nobody posted anything between 3-11 and 3-29. Tsk.

But today is significant as well. April 21, 2006. That's the day that Mr. Kraztensatz decided to go for a walk and found out that his name wasn't German. In fact, he also found out that his name turned up 0 results in Google and is therefore not even a real name at all. Then he found out that he himself is not real, just a figment of Shayne's imagination. Realizing this blew his mind. It was kind of gross, because he was out walking on a hot afternoon, and exploded brains really smell.

Boston woods

So I do not have anything to say, but I see Shayne is out Blogging me so I have to do something :). I guess I will write you all a story, or I will start a story and people can add if they want.

Sunligth filtered though the trees as brids chirpped away merrly. It was a beutfully spring evening as Robert walked under the trees of boston woods. Robert had explored boston woods since he was old enough to walk, but tonight he was deeper then he had ever been.
Boston woods was a huge old forest. As far as Robert know it just kept going on and on. He had hear of places on the other side in storys his Grandfather told him, but no one he knew had ever been to the other side. An overgrown road trailed into the woods somewere north of the village Robert had grow up around. No one know where the road went, and no one much cared.
To the villagers the woods were just a place to wake into and gather some firewood or let some childern explore under close watch on a peacefully afternoon. If any one needed anything they travel east to the city were merchance sold everthing imagiaged.
Robert did not like the city. He loved the woods instead. As far as Robert know he know more about the woods then anyone alive. What he know told him that he did not know more then anyone ever. Some time in the distance past, someone know a great deal more then Robert could ever image about the woods. It was this someone that was leading Robert so deep into the woods tonight.

The MLG, and the Easter Bunny hates you

So USA Network will be airing Major League Gaming, featuring some of the best players for two hit games, Halo 2 and, according to c|net, "Super Smash Bros. Melee World[sic]." Needless to say, I'll probably end up watching it, seeing as how my social life is pretty much shot anyways.

But other than that, my co-workers pointed me to a very funny Easter Bunny video... Do you know what the Easter Bunny is doing the other 364 days of the year? Find out!

Update: Proof-reading the title after I've already posted is a bad idea. Please note that the MLG does not hate you. Probably. I can't back that up. It was an ambiguity, and for that I'm sorry. It's supposed to sound something like "A post about the MLG being broadcast, and included in the post is a link to a video of the Easter Bunny which is also quite good," but that would've been a little long, so I guess I can't win.

Tuesday, April 18, 2006

If it wasn't for bad luck, I wouldn't have lost the use of the right side of my body.

No worries, folks. I can, and do, use both sides of my body. I just am very bad at catchy titles, so I have to resort to lies.

http://community.livejournal.com/customers_suck/ is a hilarious blog. It took me about three posts to figure out that multiple people were blogging on the thing. I was thinking "Man, this guy sure goes through jobs quickly." That's a warning that you should keep in mind when reading. Again: hilarious. I guess the reason I like it so much is because, well, it's fun to laugh at jerks. And then, I realize, in the act of doing that, I become a jerk myself. The irony dawns on me, and then I feel sad. But it's ok, because I realize that 'sad' spelled backwards is 'das', which is German for 'that', so it's all good.

Music wise, I've found out about a band that does covers of old 8-bitty music called the NESkimos. Mario, Mega Man, Zelda... classic video game music goodness, all around. If you want to listen/download their music (for free), you'll need to create a Sound Click account, which is also free.

I've been playing Tetris DS recently, and am doing pretty well online against the world. I've played well over 100 games and am winning almost 75% of the time. It's so addicting.

However, the game that I'm really excited about for the DS is coming out later this week, called Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day. Apparently, they've already made three of these games in Japan and have sold over 5 million copies collectively. But what is so cool about it is that you get to pay $20 (most DS games are $30) to play SuDoKu and perform simple math problems that anyone can do for free with a pen and paper. However, they miss out on a disembodied head telling them how their brain works. Chumps.

Righteous

As I was sitting here I recalled how I was trying to include the word righteous in my speak but have not been. So here it goes

In the class mySpeak

#include "righteous.h"

Funny? Most likly not. O yea, and it was me that tried call you the other day Shayne. I liked the message you left me.

I'm back too! Oh wait...

I guess you have to leave in order to come back... Hmm..

(pause)

OK now I'm back. Lester, I eagerly await your images created by collecting and focusing reflected electromagnetic radiation. Er--photos. I hope everyone had a hoppable Easter filled with eggs and bunnies and candy and ham. I didn't get the eggs or ham, but I did have a baby bunny (very briefly though) and candy. I learned today in Spanish class that the date of Easter is determined by this: it is the first Sunday after the first full moon after the vernal equinox. But if that Sunday falls ON the day of the first full moon, its actually the first Sunday after that. Or something like that. At any rate, I need to go do homework. Peace out.

I'm back

To answer Shayne's question, YEs! I am back from California. It was fun, I have a lot of pictures I'll post later.
Now, you might be asking yourself, why did I make a new post instead of just replying to your comment. The answer is: BECAUSE I CAN! Buahahahahahaha.

Now, back to finding a new job.

Friday, April 14, 2006

I love my job

While I'm still in the blogging mood, I thought I'd point out that CNN Money did an article on the 10 best jobs in these united states.

I'll blow the suspense: Software Engineer was ranked number one. And here I am, a lowly Software Engineer Associate. It must be lowly, because I do not make nearly that much money. But man, it is fun.

Polyphasic Sleeping

As I was crusing through digg.com, again, I found this article on a guy who attempted polyphasic sleeping. There's a wikipedia article on the whole thing too.

For those of you who never follow up on my links, for some reason, I'll boil it down. Monophasic sleeping is what most of the normal world does for 8 hours a day: Go to bed at night, wake up in the morning (or at other periods of the day, depending on your job, or jet lag, or you're a freak). Diphasic sleep is where there is a fairly lengthy nap--on the order of one to two hours a day--somewhere in between. Polyphasic sleep, then, just means that a person has 3 or more periods of sleep time in a 24-hour cycle, a.k.a. a day. The benefit of all these naps, supposedly, is that you can cut down the time dedicated to sleep everyday. I guess that, if done right, the polyphasic sleeper can shave 2-5 hours off his sleep times.

If you had read the article, then please nevermind the fact that he ultimately gave up on it because it clashed with his lifestyle of wanting to spend more time with his wife, and resume his life of being vegan, bashing Bush, and, I'm just shooting in the dark here, doing other hippie things like smoking marijuana, living in a tree, and doing things left-handed. I'm sure he's a nice guy, but I digress.

Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with being left-handed. Unless you're a hippie. And there's nothing wrong with being a hippie either, except if you're one of those hippies that hates everybody for what they do and spends most of your time picketing and stinking up the place. Why can't you be a more lovable hippie, like one, living in a tree, far away from anywhere I care about?

Anyways, for those of you still reading, I think that this polyphasic thing is a really neat idea that I'd like to research some more and eventually try it out, sometime after May. Of course, by then, I'll have forgotten about it or no longer care. Either way, it'll be a fun ride of apathy.

The weather

Because I have nothing else to talk about, I will go off about the weather. That is one thing almost everyone can have in commom. I guess if you live on the moon you would not have so much in common but I am assuming we all live on earth. Now the weather, it has been great here latly. Warm and low wind. I could not ask for better. Lucky living in the basement has been a good idea because it has been staying cool down here. Well, that is all the weather could take me. You all have a great and happy easter!!!

Life

Time flys when your having fun. Ever time I get some good stuff figured out in life bads thing pop up just as fast. I guess you must foccus on the good and forget the bad. When your code outputs "good" data you keep and when "bad" data comes along you delete and hope Shayne computer forience people don't find it :). I did find some cool thing about my code today, like it makes cool graphs that I wish it did not. Making numerical solvers is hard. Anyway no one cares so I will just be on my way.

That is a rasdfr

So, what's up with time? It's already April. May is just ahead, and I've realized how much of my life was wasted doing absolutely nothing. It's time I do something, like... watch more tv.

Oh yeah, and here's a quick story about computer forensics. Mentions Dennis Rader, (which, as we all know by now, is the man whose last name was the inspiration for a professional football team name,
abit with different spelling. I'll have to check the timeline, but I'm sure it all fits).

...Looking for a Home

Exciting news: I got a job today. This summer, I will be starting a promising new career as a grocery bagger at Dillons. Yes, I know: it really is the American Dream. In the meantime, I and my 3 future erstwhile roommates are searching for a place to park our...hondas. Thus far, the apartments are being rented faster than we can call and enquire about utility bills. However, I maintain great hopes that the dumpster behind Agnew will still be empty come May. Consequently, I have designated it as Plan B.

Happy Payday Friday.

So nice

This morning was so nice. I think. I am hopefully going to print your poster today Shayne, and one I made. Lots of fun there. Got a physics club zone meeting this weekend, again lots of fun :).

Have fun in California, Lester!

Well, the title pretty much says it all.

Umm...

In other news, DOS Box 0.65 and Wine 0.9.something are out. They have been for awhile now, actually. I know you don't care. Don't try to fake like you do. I can see right through you.

And go to digg.com, because it is an informative news-type site for computery and sciency stuff, which I like. Good stuff.

Here's what I prepose

So today is the first day that I woke up to the new Daylight Savings Time changes. Not yesterday, but that's a different story.

I didn't like it. I could barely see or think anything. More than usual, I mean.

So, I say, when the next DST change happens next year, all businesses, events, and schedules should be pushed back 1 hour. Job starts at 8 during the winter? Now it starts at 9.

Personally, I think it's brilliant: It both socks it to the man and creates a state of pointlessness at the same time. I love it.

And for my link of the post, here it is: The Simpsons Movie Trailer. I'd geek out even more about it, but apparently Satan knows no bounds and requires the user to download QuickTime 7. Luckily, you can download QuickTime Alternative if you like socking it to the man. I like it better, because I know I won't have a window open up everytime I want to watch a movie asking if I want to upgrade to the pro version, that's why. I don't even know if they do that anymore, and I don't care. I love it. Oh yeah, the trailer was OK too.

Insert Witty Title Here

Lester, that sucks about your dad. From now on I'm no longer flipping off truck drivers while I'm on my bike.

So anyways...Warm, sunny days; green grass growing; robins eatin worms--Spring has definitely sprung. You know what that means...it's time for some good clean fun: frisbee golf, barbecues, sand volleyball, more barbecues, soccer, even more barbecues, and swimming. Oh, and barbecues, too. There's nothing like eating a piece of pig straight off the grill in 90+ degrees F while being swarmed by insects. I can hardly wait. In honor of the season, I think we need to get all the former Agnewtions back in Hays again. Lester: I know its quite a drive, but this is imporant. Jon and Shayne: who really needs jobs, anyways? In lieu of your return, I suppose I'll just eat all the brats myself for consolation.

So I had one of the shortest job interviews in history. I'm hoping that doesn't indicate a negative outcome....I didn't get chased out of the store by the Dillon's bouncer--I mean grocery boy--so it wasn't too bad. I guess I'll find out. Until then, those that read the blog: Have a nice day. Those that don't: you are not cool, so don't even ask (which is pointless, because if you don't read it, you wouldn't ask anyways...).

California!

So on the 5th, I'll be flying over to California to visit my sister. I'm kind of excited, but at the same time disappointed/sad. The reason why is because my mom and my grandma was supposed to be there as well, but they no longer can. See, my dad was riding his motorcycle when he was trying to pass this truck. But the truck was hogging the road and wouldn't let my dad pass. My dad, being the short tempered person that he is, decided to flip him off, which angered the truck driver, and drove my dad off the road.
Now my dad is in the hospital. He broke both his legs, and one of his arms. Apparently it was pretty bad, but there's no threat of losing his life, so that's good.
Sorry about the depressing stuff, but thought I'd blog it.
On a brighter note, when I get back from Cali, I'll post pics. It's gonna be awesome.

Spring is Here

The grass is truning green in non-quad areas. The trees are buding and the time just changed. It is cool outside and hot in my room, I just do not understand Agnew heat. SGA elections are much less a thing this year. I can hardly tell they are coming.

The Couch

Jon's couch came out so much easier then it went it. It took like 10 seconds and it was out. Must have been because Shayne made it so much more flexable on the way in. :)

Looks like it might stroam (sp) here soon. I hope it does it would be nice.

righteous!

Happy Daylight Savings Time

In honor of this great holiday, I propose everyone set their clocks an hour earlier. That's right, earlier. I know you'll be two hours late for everything, but just say you're running on squirrel time. So I got my first job interview! On Monday, I am hoping to become a proud worker at Dillons. WOO HOO! And if I don't get it then I'll know I REALLY suck at life. Until then...I have a research paper to finish. Enjoy the weekend.

Swimming

I has been a long time since I was swimming, and I think I am going to go today. Or at least hope I can make it. If it is warm out side, and depending on if Jon comes and when he comes. So chances are I will not make it to swimming, but I want to.

I go now ...

Presenting your 2001 football team.

The 2001 Jackrabbits: Feared by many, defeated by few... one, I guess. See if you can spot me! I'm the man in a red shirt. I'm also sitting down while wearing shoes if that helps.

Why did I publish this? Well, I scanned this picture into my computer many years ago (Fall of 2001) and saved it as a '.mix' file, a.k.a. Microsoft PictureIt!'s propriatary image format, not knowing at the time that I would later outgrow the programs usefullness, and even come to despise installing it on any computer, lest PictureIt! taint the Windows Registry with horrible Mumbly-Joe. Eventually, I installed it anyway and converted all the pictures. The End.

Also, Paul, about that blog spot bar on top now: You're Welcome. And if you aren't, then it's your own fault. In any case, I'm happy that the link is back as well. Apparently, the guy that made the template surrounded the tag with tags. How about that? I have no idea what I just said.

Update: I forgot to mention that this isn't the FHSU football team, but instead my high school football team. Seems obvious, but people that are unlucky enough to find this site, without knowing any of us, may not know "What the deal is."Posted by Picasa

A link

Someone could part a link on the blog to publish a post and I would thank hime (Shayne). I like blogging it keeps me busy, but I do not have to do my homework.

What's the sound of one blog blogging?

It's so great to see this blog reinvigorated with things other than some idiot talking about an expensive Linux handheld gaming device.

Spring is really neat.

That's all I can think of at the moment.

Why did I post this, it's just wasting everybody's time. Oh well, have fun!

I Suck at Life.

I need a job. Since I'll be staying up here this summer taking Spanish classes (yay) and paying rent for the hypothetical apartment Kari and I will be staying in, money is good. If I started taking steroids and gained 50 lbs or so I could work at Orschelin's, since they're only interested in "heavy lifters." If thats not discrimination, I dunno what is. I'm also looking into being a part-time contract killer. I hear the hours suck, but the benefits are good. Staci told me I could take her job at Applebee's--but I'm really only interested in their food. Quite frankly, being forced to serve it instead of eating it would be cruel. I think I'll apply at Home Depot, but the way the roads work out there I don't know if I'd ever be able to find my way to work. Unless I get GPS and a dune buggy (I really wouldn't need a dune buggy, per say, but they are cool). My mom told me I couldn't work at Wal Mart because it is the evil corporation that will bring about the ruin of society (and yet she still shops there). Maybe I'll just forget this whole job foolishness and just fish disc golfs out of Big Creek all summer and sell them. Self employment is good.

Bringing it back to life

Yeah, its starting to finally look like spring here as well. It has stopped snowing, and the sun is actually out. I even went for a jog. Good ol' Blacksburg.

Spring is here

So in any effect to keep going on "Bring the Blog to Life" campain, I am write more today. The weater (A topic you can almost alway count on) is much more spring like as of late here in Hays. The wind could let up some and it would be better and I can not wait for a big thunder strom to roll thought. That is all I got. Wait. Dan S. told me a joke the other day and here it is. It only work if you say it out loud to someone so I am not doing it justice (o but what is Justice?). Anyway. "I don't know how to tell you this, but I am a mute". There it is.

Life, the Universe, and Everything

Is it technically a Fort Hays blog when only roughly two of all the original members are FHSU students? And for that matter...is it technically a blog when no one blogs? Brings to mind the old question "if a tree falls in the forest but no one is around, does it make a sound?" Debating this one seems an absolute waste of time to me, so now I'm sorry I brought it up. But hey, this is one of those rambling, pointless posts that Paul was reminiscing about. Brings back fond memories of the good old days...back when I was young and...wait...

What happened?

So few blogs these day. I recall the day the blog was use for all kinds of things. Good things a few bad, and lot nothings. Somewhere live caught us up and we all are busy now, I guess. Well this is my attpemt to bring the blog back to it glory days. I think we should blog once more. Long live the blog!!! Most I should be working on my poster and I am not.

Handheld Linux

Sure, it doesn't look quite as slick as a PSP, but it does have an air about it that smells like electronic goodness. I'm talking about the GP2X, a handheld gaming device with a Linux kernel.

Look at the screen, man! 3.5 inches, 320x240 resolution TFT LCD. The Nintendo DS screens are each 3 inches and have a resolution of 256 × 192. The PlayStation Portable's is a crazy 4.3 inches, 480x272 resolution with a 16:9 aspect ratio.

We could sit here and compare specs all day long, but that isn't why this device is getting blogged. It's the fact that they've opened up nearly all aspects of development on it. That means all sorts of homebrewed entertainment that the folks at Nintendo and Sony have tried so hard to prevent on their machines. Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Sega, and arcade emulators are already developed for the thing! Great stuff. They even give you a dev kit on the site, which would be great for me if I knew how to program stuff (Don't tell my employers. They don't know that I randomly hit keys until the program does what it should).

You can read more about the $200 device (as of the writing of this article) on the wikipedia article and a review of it on Blether.

What? $200? A PSP costs $250! Hmm... Well, I still like it anyway.

The Magical Trevor Trilogy (for now, anyways)

Trevor is awesome. This blog goes out to our groups favorite trumpeter! Or should I just say a person who plays the trumpet instead of trumpeter? What's the correct term?
Magical Trevor 1
Magical Trevor 2
Magical Trevor 3
That whole site has some cool stuff, really. Check the rest of it out.

I used to play the trumpet, now that I think about it. I don't think I'd mind either term, if I was still playing it. Now, I'm called "Programmer" by some. And by others, it's "That weird guy." Which is so sad. It seems like just yesterday I was being called, "That weird kid." Man. Time flies by so fast.

And another thing! Why, when somebody is driving, or going real fast in general, people say "Whoa! He's bookin' it!"?.... I tell you, I've never seen anybody read a book and I think to myself "Man, look at his speed of movement relative to me! That's absolute craziness!"

I hope all you folks in Hays are having fun! And if you don't.......

....well, I can't back the statement I come up with next, so whatever.

Shayne's Apartment, part 2

So, this is a picture of the closet of my bedroom. Wow. Why did I take a picture of that and not my bed, which is nice? Oh well.
Here is a picture of the messiest part of the house, which currently holds the computer. Yessir.
Here is picture two of that room, showing my computer. Still looks messy.
And finally, as all grand tours end at the garage, so does this one. Here is the garage. I just thought I'd clarify that, seeing as how you can get it confused with all the houses that have a room with a big sliding door, no carpet, and lack of frivelties, like completed walls and heating. The previous renters decided to leave a water-bed frame in here for some reason (It's in the lower left of the picture, so out of frame that you couldn't tell. That's so like you.)

Shayne's Apartment: part 1 of 2

This is the building that I live in. See the windows at the lower left corner of the place? That is facing north, and is where I live.
This is the living room. In the foreground, you can see the La-Z-Boy that has survived college. Yo can also see the TV and various other electronics that also came from that era of my life. The couch? Brand spankin' used. Many other items were lodged in my room at home as I was learning about stuff and stuff.
Here is a better view of the couch and the new recliner. It's pretty nice too.
The dining room, as seen from the couch. Those are old chairs from a Pizza Hut somewhere. Now they have white house paint on them for some reason.
The kitchen. The microwave and toaster are hidden by the Refridge thingy, and you can't really make out the dishwasher that I've only used once.

eh

The awesome Chuck Norris link Shayne refused to post (something about running children and sheltered mothers?)

This is the Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny

I was planning on uploading pictures of my house.... and I will eventually. But I wasn't planning on this little jem falling into my lap, scalding me, and making me miss work and causing mental anguish to the tune of six million dollars. Unforetunately I spent it all on bionic implants... but now I can crush aluminum cans using my forehead with little to no drain bramage.

Of course, It would take more than just a regular link to delay my putting pictures of the apartment on the web (other than the fact that I'm lazy and haven't done it yet). No sir.

Just so you know, I was tipped off of this link by my co-workers. It's nice to know that the time they've spent in front of a computation box hasn't crushed their souls and senses of humor. Yep, it's a good thing indeed.

I was really psyched about Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Desiny. I mean, look at the title, man! Too bad it got off to a rough start with Shaq, Shaq Fu, and Aaron Carter within the first 30 seconds. All three are on my devil list, however I hear some people like Shaq and Aaron. Dispite this, its rockin' tune and constant pop-culture references rank it very-high in my book.

Some people might get offended by the gore in this film, especially that last scene. So don't watch it, stupid. Here it is: The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny, and this is the direct link to the flash, so you can download it and watch it full screen, if you'd like.

Would you like the song enough to find the original and download the goodness that is the song? Download it from http://fyad.org/7p2z.

I will get the pictures later. So don't worry!
