We just witnessed a 243 day lull in our blogging duties. (Thank you, timeanddate.com.) That's a brand new record!

So what's happened on my end in the 7+ months since then?

Yeah, it's starting to come back to me as to why I stopped blogging.

Seriously though, there have been a few cool things. I got to see Weird Al in concert with Jon, Sam, and some family, which was really neat. He even sang a few songs not on any of his albums, such as We All Have Cell Phones, So C'Mon Let's Get Real and I'm in Love with the Skipper.

....Okay, so that was only one cool thing, but still it was quite a ride. Oh, I guess I did also go to a Dave and Busters, a sort of Chuck E. Cheese for grown-ups, where I finally got to play an arcade machine I've been waiting many years of my life to play, called The Lost World: Jurassic Park. Apparently it is based off of some movie. In retrospect, I'm not sure why I wanted to play it so badly. Wait, now I remember: because shooting dinosaurs is awesome.

In conclusion, the secret to happiness is that you will never find it. You have to make it yourself. At least that is what I was able to gleam from Dan Gilbert from one of those TED talks.

FCC started it the wireless auction

After all the talk the the FCC wireless auction started. I checked the news and there was nothing much going on. The sad news it could take months until we know who got what and what it might mean. I guess these people don't know how to auction.

Perhaps next time I will have something cool to say.

Bring the Blog Back!

I agree with Paul, let's bring the blog back to life! I can post about my life in Virginia, and hopefully my life in California when I move there in about a year. And then my life on Mars. Wish me luck guys!

So I don't know. I was talking to Lester and we (Or I) decided we should bring the blog back or give it a try. Who knowns what will happen. I don't know how the title apples to this post but it is a notice we should blog. I guess.

Forsyth Library

Forsyth Library is getting compact shelves in the basement, just like the K-State's library, pictured left. This is really exciting for me, probably because I like to push buttons. Soon, all of the periodicals will be housed IN ONE PLACE. English majors, rejoice.

I've got pants.

Just thought you and the rest of the blogosphere should know. This is some high quality news here. They aren't fancy pants, or anything of the like. But they do work for the purpose that pants serve.

But, if you want some useful, free-to-own open-source software, you should look at freemind, which is the digitized form of mind mapping, a technique for organizing streams of thoughts, ideas, and majiggers. I also seem to vaguely recall something like that from my grade school years.

You'll need Java to use it (the link is for Java 5.0 for Windows XP. It's not the latest Java, but it works. For now.)

It's about time: Singing a Song

I planned to put this video on YouTube for quite some time. Around six months, to attach a number to it. Why so long? Procrastination, mostly. But also the realization that prospective employers tend to search the Internet for peoples' names, just like the rest of us.

Down in a hole

Today i got to go down 30 ft. in a man made hole. It was warm. I wanted to stay, but they wanted to put concrete in it as soon as it was drilled. Then I had to come out of the hole and it was cold as outside can be and I had to test concrete. Concrete testing is not fun. Everybody should come test concrete with me and then we can collect all the cylinders and make a giant concrete cylinder house. Now that would be awsome. A house made of 6" X 12" cylinders. Now that would be freak'n sweet. But the coolest thing was that I was at a chemical plant that exploded really really big less than a half hour after I was done testing comcrete there

Microsoft?

I think if there was ever a time to get off the windows boat it is now. I myself have been using Windows XP all the time at home. This makes me sad. I don't know why I can not escape. Vista is the way out. I don't way to buy anymore Mirosoft stuff and I have found some cool eye candy for linux. So if there way ever a time to try linux it is now. Give it a try. There are a lot of live CD's so you don't have to install anything to get a taste of it.

Jessie is really smart, and I can back this up. One day I was talking to my good buddy Jessie in our Physics class. To make things interesting, I presented to her an impossible dare. "I bet you can't travel around the world in 80 days," I said. Jessie, never to back down from a challenge, went on that voyage. Luckily for her, and unbeknownst to me, there was a handbook and two movies on how to do exactly that. I guess it was fortunate for her that she stumbled onto a Chinese man that knew martial arts, and whipped every ugly guy that got in her way. Of course, thanks to the state of technology today, it only took her five days, including a 10 hour layover in the deadliest place on earth, JFK airport. It's a good thing I didn't make it a real bet, because I would have lost.

Extremely high resolutions and most of the alphabet

So, think that the much belly-hewed 1080p resolution is nice? Or that your fancy 1600x1200 is top-o-the line?

Latest standards of resolutions have brought us the WHUXGA (or Wide Hexadecatuple Ultra Extended Graphics Array) resolution monitor, which stands at a cool 7680×4800 resolution, which is 37 million pixels. That just puts my 3.2MP digital camera to shame. Too bad nothing like this exists. Yet.

Bloging is so much fun. I just love to blog. If I had something good to blog about that would be great. I did update my google webpage a little the other day. When I should of been blogging. I also think I am almost am starting to know the how to program. Not good yet, but much better then ever before. Someday I shall know the truth and the truth will set me free.

So I have not bloged in a long time but I just descovered that I can use my time wisely buy blogging in C++ class. O yea. I liked the leader today. A great story Jessie and nice how you got that quote for an alum, Shayne Riley. I wonder how long that took you to get :).

The Death of ITV

I am facing the end of an era. What once ruled scores of sites, students, and teachers now lies mostly neglected, relegated to two or three classrooms a night. ITV is coming to an end. Fort Hays State University pioneered the program, building it—and much of the equipment—from scratch. Now, the program is dying, site by site. Night by night. Two monitors can barely work enough to scratch 14 or 15 hours—when before three monitors were needed, one working over 20. The Tomanek control room is virtually desolate, housing unused and broken equipment. The classrooms themselves are breaking down, camera by camera. But why fix it, when soon it will no longer be required? A teacher is experimenting with Marratech--marrying Polycom technology with webcams. If anything can save ITV, that would be it. Right now, though, most ITV classes have been changed to online. I foresee the trend only continuing.

Former ITV moniters, I salute you. You have shared in a glorious past--one that will not be forgotten by..well, at least me. Those lonely nights in the control room, doing homework, surfing the Internet, staying at your post, and doing the odd minute or two of work--remember those days, for they were beautiful. You saved teachers in distress, students who were disconnected, and recorded classes for when all hope was lost. You, Wielder of the Mighty Polycom Remote, knew the secrets of Volume control, Projector sources, and VCR technology. Sure, a trained monkey could perform most of your tasks--but remember: Ron Hart chose You. In my experience, this has been the best job in the world. Well, except for maybe the ice cream taster.

Blog changes are a comin'. Also, a case of Too Much Information.

I just found out that Blogger has a new way of doing things. For us to do these things, however, we have to start using Google accounts. So start looking out for that. I'll email the parties that have been blogging the past year or two: Lester, Jon, Paul, Jessie... I have many more in the current list, but I figure now is a good time to clean out those who have moved on to bigger and better things, like doing absolutely nothing whatsoever. If you are on the original list of authors, though, you can always climb back on board by replying to this post in a timely fashion, or by contacting me in some way. Non-violent methods of communication are preferred (like, hurling a brick through my window would be a bad example of a non-violent method).

Also, stop spam through providing links to false email addresses (mostly fake email addresses to known spamming sites). As some are aware, one method of acquiring email addresses is to use a spider to collect emails from links on websites. What if, however, instead of a real email address, a fake one is used instead? I like the idea. A lot. That's why I did it.

Finally, I'd like to tell you something I've learned this weekend: throwing up for the fourth time in one night is easier than the first three or any of the times after (I think it was a total of six or seven. I lost count). The reason is this: By the third time, you've already lost your lunch. It's pretty much water at this point. After the fourth time, two things are going wrong: 1) Your entire abdominal region feels like it got assaulted by some unholy cross between a Bowflex and Mike Tyson, and 2) Bile is very bitter.

Moral of the story: explosive decompression isn't just for jetliners, but for gastrointestinal systems as well.

British Police Defend 'Underpants' Advice

A British police force on Thursday defended a magazine article advising women intent on getting drunk to make sure they are wearing nice underpants.
Suffolk Police in eastern England said the "tongue-in-cheek" advice in the police-backed magazine Safe was intended to curb binge-drinking by young women.
An article in the debut issue advises women "intent on getting ratted" to ensure they are "wearing nice pants" in case they pass out.
It also tells young women that too much alcohol can leave them looking like "wrinkly old prunes."
The force said the publication — designed as an eye-catching spoof gossip magazine and distributed free through shops, clubs and colleges — offered safety advice to young women.
It is produced by a coalition of police, local government and health organizations.
"That article is a very, very small part of the magazine," said a police spokeswoman, speaking on the force's customary condition of anonymity. "The whole magazine does not revolve around what people should wear when they go out."
The Suzy Lamplugh Trust, a women's safety charity, acknowledged the article appeared odd, but said the police should be applauded for trying to reach young women.
"When you see quotes out of context, it seems very odd. But when you see it in context you get the spoof," spokeswoman Jo Walker said.
"Perhaps it's gone a bit too far, but you've got to give police credit for trying.
"It's definitely getting attention, and I think it will get young girls talking about it."

According to Time, the $2.6 billion prewashed salad industry is at stake, clinging to their very roots for survival. Right now, Americans are emptying out their produce drawers following an E. coli scare that would have Popeye spinning in his grave. What spawned this mass terror? Over a hundred people have eaten contaminated fresh spinach, causing mass intestinal disturbances and one fatality. California is the source of the E. coli, so this should be the perfect opportunity for Governor Arnold to test his mettle against a new kind of bad guy: non-Predator, non-Terminator, and non-Democrat. Will the Kindergarten Cop defeat the bad bug? Well…maybe with the help of the CDC. Until then, I recommend avoiding manure-contaminated spinach and opting for a healthier alternative instead: twinkies. Lard and sugar are thus far impervious to attacks by the coli family…apparently even bacteria have their standards. Ironically enough, most Americans (including me) would probably risk dropping dead at the tender age of 35 to avoid something that is already present in their bodies, peacefully digesting all those partially hydrogenated oils. Then again, if we lived long enough, we’d develop brain cancer from our cell phones.

ITV Strikes Back

Day 2 of classes. ITV is new and different this semester...not exactly better either. The long and the short of it is, all of the colleges switched from the dedicated T1 lines to plain internet at 256K. On top of that, Colby is generally inaccessible because all of their addresses got screwed up I guess. And I broke the VCR today. Yep. If I had a screwdriver, I'd take it apart and try to fix it. So it's good that I don't have a screwdriver. But enough of work. Hays is sunny and a beautiful 82 degrees out. Perfect weather for frisbee golf, laying in a shady hammock, or Oversized Outdoor Ping Pong (also known as tennis) if you're into that sort of thing. So right now there's this girl sitting in Tomanek crying on the phone (she's been doing this for at least an hour now) about various random topics like athletic shorts...I don't really get it but she's getting annoying. For the love of Alltel, get some Prozac! And in other news, there is a tree in San Antonio that is self-watering.

well its been a long time

well its been awhile since i actully posted, with the exception of the save the internet post. the reason behind not posting much ...well ive moved on i no longer use blogger. i used wordpress now you can find my blog here. the reason i decided to move over to wordpress its alot more simple and more powerful also i have rss feeds setup. which is something that blogger doesnt do. also my other site bgwillers.com is going to be moving from blogger to wordpress as soon as i get the server configs up and going. having bgwillers has been alot of work and blogger seems to be always taken down for maintainance and its rather frustrating.

so there you go this is why biebs had seem to disapear from fhsu bloggination.

Meet Harvey

This is Harvey. I think Harvey is actually a female--I found this out after I named her. She is a Pennsylvania wood cockroach that briefly resided in our basement. Kayla set out "cockroach food" for Harvey, and last night we found her quivering in the middle of the living room floor. I gave Harvey a sky burial on our front lawn this morning. We can only hope that Harvey did not leave any little ones behind. There's a good chance; Harvey is an outdoor cockroach (they don't generally breed indoors) and I think she just wandered into our house while looking for rotting timber. Which, oddly enough, comprises our house....


Hopefully, this ends the saga of the cockroach infestation. Coming soon: The lint monster that lives in the laundry room.

I can't believe that the Song Tapper was able to guess the songs I was thinking of, just from me tapping the keyboard. Volleyball Highlight #01

I dipped into the collection of DV tapes I recorded of our college days. Let me set the stage for those of us with bad memories, or weren't there for that exciting night of Sonic Drive-In volleyball action:

This four-year old walks right into the middle of our volleyball game. We didn't want her there obviously, because... well... we're really bad at this and, let's admit, there's a high risk of injury to anyone out there. Rather then flat out telling the little girl that she can't play, we decide to just shove her into a section of the court where (we thought) the ball usually doesn't bounce to.

Finally...

Another semester (for those of us still in college) is winding down. Papers are turned in, tests are taken, grades are posted, and frantic packing commences in the dorms. I have outdone myself yet again by finding more dirty dishes hidden behind my microwave than I even knew I had. Perhaps dirty dishes have a way of reproducing or cloning themselves....Ditto for dirty laundry.

I'm looking forward to summer though. Classes sure do have a way of cutting into my fun time. Oh wait...I'm taking classes this summer...Oh snap. Well, at the very least, I won't be eating dorm food anymore. Chartwells: eat, choke, and die without me (if I sound particularly irate, it is just because I found a hair in my sausage biscuit this morning). I'm moving on.

so I just figured out how to use the Microsoft speech recognition in all sorts of applications like fire fox . So I'm using it to write this entire body and I'm not going to correct the mistakes that it makes . As you can see it used the word body instead of log and now it just use the word logs instead of dog and outages to use the word dog. I had a CBack spaceThe spec space backspace backspace backspace . I was trying to correct something but using backspace but that didn't go as what planned. I think I'd train the Microsoft beach recognition software for more it will be a lot of fun. Beach I like the beach two . Everybody should check it out in my opinion because it will just make life so much cooler with all of these audit mistakes that makes. And you can drive a whole bunch of blood in a hurry just by talking. And it just makes me laughAnd

Last Tuesday

So I just woke up...I'm at work and I guess I fell asleep (I don't think I drooled too much so that's always good). Anyways, I woke up and decided to check out what's new on YouTube...my new favorite addiction and ultimate procastinating tool. Guess what I found: the real life Simpson's intro. I was amused. But then, that could just be because I'm not yet up to full mental capacity (it takes awhile for me to reboot).

And in other news, it's cheap hamburger night, Sam's birthday is coming up, and we had Physics Club elections today and nobody died.

Class are coming to an end and I am so glad. This year seems like it has been so long to me. So many things have changed over the last year. Change is sad somethings, but good others. Things I've Learned About YouTube

It's been two days since I've posted the Massacre of a Machine video, one day since I've posted The Mase-inator's Donkey Kong Country 2 Tour de Force, and just recently I've posted Lessons In Life.

In that span of one day, the DKC2 video had triple the view counts to MoaM, AND a comment to boot! From somebody we don't even know! She liked it! Too bad nobody's rated it yet. I guess fifty views isn't anything too big, considering some of the most played videos get over a million, easy. The Pokemon Theme music video was #1? Sad. Too bad it's also somewhat funny.

My brief expedition into YouTube is a roaring success. Obviously, we need to get The Mase-inator back into some video game action, if we are to climb up the ranks any.

Massacre of a Machine: Now on YouTube

I'm behind the times. Apparently this YouTube site is getting hit almost as much as Google.

Anyone can create an account and upload nearly any video file they want (registration required, videos can only be up to 100MB in size and no longer than 10 minutes). It then transcodes that video file, from whatever format that might have been, into a standardized format that can play on almost anyones computer (It's Shockwave Flash video, I believe).

So I uploaded a video. Let me tell you, the process couldn't have been less painless. They even let you either link to the webpage, or let you embed it right into your own site if you want! I'll be posting more videos to this in the future.

It's free, and it doesn't sell advertisements. I don't quite get their angle... yet.

It rained!

It rained early this morning and is cloudy today. I like the break from all the heat. Everything seems so clean and nice after the rain. I also finshed my semiar paper to. A great day it is. If only school was done. Have a happy and wonderfully day.

What's the deal with those links at the bottom of MSN IM chat screens?

As I was IMing to Paul today, I noticed a sentence that seemed a little out of place. It wasn't something Paul or I typed. In fact, it wasn't anywhere near that section of the IM window. It read "I'm pretty sure I could be your life coach." Curious, I clicked.

That's what brings me here today. In continuing with this serendipitous free music series, here is ADitty4You.com, including the songs "I'm Pretty Sure I Could be a Life Coach" and one of my favorites, "Laugh Tracks Make Me Feel Lonely." I haven't listened to them all, but some of the titles alone tended to tickle my funny bone, until the tickling went on for just too long and got annoying and painful... you know who you are, over-ticklers. Don't think it's cute. It's annoying, and very tiring. What part of "*gasp* I can't *gasp* breathe," don't you understand?... Oh, yeah, the ditties. They were good and funny. Listen to them.

The REAL song that never ends (although this one does)

Play The Pi Song (If it doesn't work, try using IE, or just download it direct). Annoying at first, it somehow grew on me the more it went on. And then it stopped, which is annoying (It's one minute, four seconds long). Try to play it once every day at 3:14. Twice at 6:28. It's a smaller part of a bigger video which somehow fits rap and lasers into the mix. You'll feel geekier for having seen it, and not in the good way.

I'm not sure on this next song (it's a shockwave flash file). I've heard it before, and I may have even posted it to this blog, or someone else did. In any case, here it is for the first time or again: Mathematical Pi.

And a wikipedia entry on Pi Day. Which this blog didn't celebrate. I forgot. In fact, nobody posted anything between 3-11 and 3-29. Tsk.

But today is significant as well. April 21, 2006. That's the day that Mr. Kraztensatz decided to go for a walk and found out that his name wasn't German. In fact, he also found out that his name turned up 0 results in Google and is therefore not even a real name at all. Then he found out that he himself is not real, just a figment of Shayne's imagination. Realizing this blew his mind. It was kind of gross, because he was out walking on a hot afternoon, and exploded brains really smell.

Free Music

Boston woods

So I do not have anything to say, but I see Shayne is out Blogging me so I have to do something :). I guess I will write you all a story, or I will start a story and people can add if they want.

Sunligth filtered though the trees as brids chirpped away merrly. It was a beutfully spring evening as Robert walked under the trees of boston woods. Robert had explored boston woods since he was old enough to walk, but tonight he was deeper then he had ever been.
Boston woods was a huge old forest. As far as Robert know it just kept going on and on. He had hear of places on the other side in storys his Grandfather told him, but no one he knew had ever been to the other side. An overgrown road trailed into the woods somewere north of the village Robert had grow up around. No one know where the road went, and no one much cared.
To the villagers the woods were just a place to wake into and gather some firewood or let some childern explore under close watch on a peacefully afternoon. If any one needed anything they travel east to the city were merchance sold everthing imagiaged.
Robert did not like the city. He loved the woods instead. As far as Robert know he know more about the woods then anyone alive. What he know told him that he did not know more then anyone ever. Some time in the distance past, someone know a great deal more then Robert could ever image about the woods. It was this someone that was leading Robert so deep into the woods tonight.

The MLG, and the Easter Bunny hates you

So USA Network will be airing Major League Gaming, featuring some of the best players for two hit games, Halo 2 and, according to c|net, "Super Smash Bros. Melee World[sic]." Needless to say, I'll probably end up watching it, seeing as how my social life is pretty much shot anyways.

But other than that, my co-workers pointed me to a very funny Easter Bunny video... Do you know what the Easter Bunny is doing the other 364 days of the year? Find out!

Update: Proof-reading the title after I've already posted is a bad idea. Please note that the MLG does not hate you. Probably. I can't back that up. It was an ambiguity, and for that I'm sorry. It's supposed to sound something like "A post about the MLG being broadcast, and included in the post is a link to a video of the Easter Bunny which is also quite good," but that would've been a little long, so I guess I can't win.

If it wasn't for bad luck, I wouldn't have lost the use of the right side of my body.

No worries, folks. I can, and do, use both sides of my body. I just am very bad at catchy titles, so I have to resort to lies.

http://community.livejournal.com/customers_suck/ is a hilarious blog. It took me about three posts to figure out that multiple people were blogging on the thing. I was thinking "Man, this guy sure goes through jobs quickly." That's a warning that you should keep in mind when reading. Again: hilarious. I guess the reason I like it so much is because, well, it's fun to laugh at jerks. And then, I realize, in the act of doing that, I become a jerk myself. The irony dawns on me, and then I feel sad. But it's ok, because I realize that 'sad' spelled backwards is 'das', which is German for 'that', so it's all good.

Music wise, I've found out about a band that does covers of old 8-bitty music called the NESkimos. Mario, Mega Man, Zelda... classic video game music goodness, all around. If you want to listen/download their music (for free), you'll need to create a Sound Click account, which is also free.

I've been playing Tetris DS recently, and am doing pretty well online against the world. I've played well over 100 games and am winning almost 75% of the time. It's so addicting.

However, the game that I'm really excited about for the DS is coming out later this week, called Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day. Apparently, they've already made three of these games in Japan and have sold over 5 million copies collectively. But what is so cool about it is that you get to pay $20 (most DS games are $30) to play SuDoKu and perform simple math problems that anyone can do for free with a pen and paper. However, they miss out on a disembodied head telling them how their brain works. Chumps.

I hope everyone had a hoppable Easter filled with eggs and bunnies and candy and ham. I didn't get the eggs or ham, but I did have a baby bunny (very briefly though) and candy. I learned today in Spanish class that the date of Easter is determined by this: it is the first Sunday after the first full moon after the vernal equinox. But if that Sunday falls ON the day of the first full moon, its actually the first Sunday after that. Or something like that. At any rate, I need to go do homework. Peace out.

Now, you might be asking yourself, why did I make a new post instead of just replying to your comment. The answer is: BECAUSE I CAN! Buahahahahahaha.

I love my job

While I'm still in the blogging mood, I thought I'd point out that CNN Money did an article on the 10 best jobs in these united states.

I'll blow the suspense: Software Engineer was ranked number one. And here I am, a lowly Software Engineer Associate. It must be lowly, because I do not make nearly that much money. But man, it is fun.

Polyphasic Sleeping

As I was crusing through digg.com, again, I found this article on a guy who attempted polyphasic sleeping. There's a wikipedia article on the whole thing too.

For those of you who never follow up on my links, for some reason, I'll boil it down. Monophasic sleeping is what most of the normal world does for 8 hours a day: Go to bed at night, wake up in the morning (or at other periods of the day, depending on your job, or jet lag, or you're a freak). Diphasic sleep is where there is a fairly lengthy nap--on the order of one to two hours a day--somewhere in between. Polyphasic sleep, then, just means that a person has 3 or more periods of sleep time in a 24-hour cycle, a.k.a. a day. The benefit of all these naps, supposedly, is that you can cut down the time dedicated to sleep everyday. I guess that, if done right, the polyphasic sleeper can shave 2-5 hours off his sleep times.

If you had read the article, then please nevermind the fact that he ultimately gave up on it because it clashed with his lifestyle of wanting to spend more time with his wife, and resume his life of being vegan, bashing Bush, and, I'm just shooting in the dark here, doing other hippie things like smoking marijuana, living in a tree, and doing things left-handed. I'm sure he's a nice guy, but I digress.

Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with being left-handed. Unless you're a hippie. And there's nothing wrong with being a hippie either, except if you're one of those hippies that hates everybody for what they do and spends most of your time picketing and stinking up the place. Why can't you be a more lovable hippie, like one, living in a tree, far away from anywhere I care about?

Anyways, for those of you still reading, I think that this polyphasic thing is a really neat idea that I'd like to research some more and eventually try it out, sometime after May. Of course, by then, I'll have forgotten about it or no longer care. Either way, it'll be a fun ride of apathy.

The weather

Because I have nothing else to talk about, I will go off about the weather. That is one thing almost everyone can have in commom. I guess if you live on the moon you would not have so much in common but I am assuming we all live on earth. Now the weather, it has been great here latly. Warm and low wind. I could not ask for better. Lucky living in the basement has been a good idea because it has been staying cool down here. Well, that is all the weather could take me. You all have a great and happy easter!!!
