Dude! That is totally insane. Holy crap, I'm not much of a gamer but looking at that made me excited. Why? I Don't know, but it did!
Crazyness. It will be very interesting to see how effective it is. Nintendo's controller probably has a better ability to sense motion than Mattel's last offering, the Power Glove. I'm not so keen to the idea that we have to put sensors next to the screen, as the 'Glove did.
But then again, I remember when I starting playing the old NES, moving my arms in the direction that I wanted Mario to go... good times. So it doesn't seem like too far of a stretch (heh) for Nindendo to do this.
Judging by those pictures, it has only two more buttons than the original NES did: the home and power buttons. While there are a total of 8 buttons, 2 of them are repeats.
It looks like you can rotate the controller 90 degrees and play the old-time 8-bit Nintendo games that are rumored to be downloadable to the system with great ease. But what about the other systems, such as the SNES and N64, to name a couple? How can we play those games, if we are even able to at all?
Needless to say, it will be very interesting to see how this plays out. There are gamers out there that want to do other stuff than twiddle their thumbs, like using DDR pads, the Eye Toy, DK Bongos, the list goes on. Maybe it's the Nintendo fan in me, but I hope it will more awesome than steamed nachos, whatever that is.
If you want to watch the video, you'll have to get the low resolution video:

Oh... There's two Z buttons, too. Whoops. Last post. I promise.
