FHSU has an awesome debate coach. Kind of wish I knew the guy.

Wow! The video they refer to is one disturbing piece of work. (WARNING: explicit language and partial, um, side-mooning) It is at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPt8UVU7bXs. It is a higher-quality version to the video that was linked in the article.
Some of my favorite dialogue from the video happens at the 5:24 mark:
FHSU coach: "Do you want to know why? Do you want to know why?!"
Pittsburg coach: "No. I don't really care."
FHSU coach: "I'll tell you why!"
[Incoherent rambling and yelling over each other]
One of the more eye-opening comments comes from musicissimple:
"Yes,but [Fort Hays coach William Shanahan] is losing his credibility. His arrests for battery and disorderly conduct in May 2006 at his optometrist's office, and June 2007 (at a T-ball game of all things), and now this.... we're starting to see a trend of irrational behavior. This isn't passion-- it's a lack of self-control and good judgement."
And another one from thetechteacher:
"...Both coaches show that neither one is fit for educating our children...much less coach debate...they couldn't even debate each other."
The way that FHSU coach Bill attempts to justify his actions toward the end of the video would have made me laugh if everything leading up to it wasn't so sad.
After watching this video, if you've never watched Thank You for Smoking, you should go and rent it right now, and then come back and watch this debacle again. Trust me on this.
I'd like to leave on a serious note now with my final thought:
COME ON PEOPLE! WHAT'S WITH ALL THE YELLING?!
I don't think this should be too surprising to anyone who has watched "Democracy Matters," a show Shanahan hosts on FHSU's TV station. It's amazing how he goes from calmly interviewing a guest to ranting into the camera and back again. Some of the old shows are online at http://www.fhsu.edu/int/kfhstv/.
